Text elements

What are text elements in Create?

Omnidocs Create supports inserting documents into other documents. We call the documents that are being inserted text elements.

For example, consider an organization with three documents:

  • Proposal,
  • Contract,
  • Terms & Conditions.

Terms & Conditions can be inserted into the Proposal and Contract documents. In that context, we call Terms & conditions a text element.

Working with text elements

Text elements are stored just like other documents, inside a recipe. It is only their use that defines them as text elements. They can be grouped in Content sources and Folders.

The element content source type is merely a suggestion - it doesn't limit functionality in any way. Similarly, document content sources still allow their contents to be inserted as text elements. The grouping is only there to help organization and management.

Text elements can be added to data sources as well, and fetched dynamically into forms or transformations. The RecipeReferenceDropdown and MultipleRecipeReferenceDropdown allow dynamic insertion of text elements based on user choices, without the need for using transformations.
